On Wednesday 22nd June, it was the Arabic seniors turn for an information session about diabetes. An Arabic speaking special guest from Diabetes NSW ACT, joined us to present information about diabetes, healthy eating and exercise.
Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) health condition that affects how your body turns food into energy.
Most of the food you eat is broken down into sugar (also called glucose) and released into your bloodstream. When your blood sugar goes up, it signals your pancreas to release insulin. Insulin acts like a key to let the blood sugar into your body’s cells for use as energy.
If you have diabetes, your body either doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t use the insulin it makes as well as it should.
Please see you doctor if you think you have diabetes.

Fantastic initiative 😊
Our seniors are very well looked after by the wonderful staff and volunteers at KCAC, who prepare a healthy lunch for them each week. The menu’s are planned with a cultural relevance for each specific group. The menu’s change each week and are extra special during celebrations and occasions. The seniors also love to contribute with their own traditional dishes during special celebration days. It’s a multicultural food extravaganza each week at KCAC. The best feedback we can get is the smile on the faces of our consumers, and they are always smiling. 🇱🇧 🇮🇹 🇨🇳 🇬🇷 ... See MoreSee Less
